sitegold_s

You have an idea but how the devil are you going to fill your membership site with grateful members?

Let me paint the scene…

You’ve read about the “riches” that can be yours if you just create a membership site

You know you have quality content that your prospects will want. You’ve thought about your compelling sales page and adding an order button.

Now what?

How do you create your site and

How do you convince your prospects to become members?

How to create your Membership Site

You use WordPress. No ifs, no buts. Unless you are a technical genius (read geek) or have piles of cash already you use WordPress. You can read all about it and even get a free copy of the outstanding WishList Member plugin here

If you already use WordPress you’re ahead of the game. Just use the best Membership Plugin and you’re ready to add your content and start promoting. And this is…

How you fill your Membership site with grateful members

1. Specialise and Target A Specific Market

It seems almost counterintuitive – you’d think that if your site appeals to as many people as possible, then you’d get more members. But it doesn’t work that way. Instead, you’ll get more members by focusing your site and all marketing materials tightly on one niche.

For example: Suppose your site teaches people how to build a website. You should focus on one niche, such as “web design for ebook marketers” or “web design for private practice doctors.”

Now think about it…

Let’s say an e-book marketer wants to learn how to build a site. Is “Joe Cool’s Web Design” site… or the “Website Creation for E-book Marketers” going to appeal most? Of course, it’s going to be your site because your visitor sees it as being 100% focused on his/her needs. You clearly understand their market and what they want.

2. Give Away Free or Low-Cost Sample

You can get more paying members if you first give people a free or low-cost trial membership (such as $1 for one week).

It gives people a chance to get a look at the inside of your site to see if it’s right for them. And because you have collected their credit card details as they got their trial, you can automatically start their paid subscription once the trial period is over.

3. Share the Benefits

You need to “sell” the benefits of your product or service. For that you’ll need a sales letter, sequence and / or video to help turn prospects into members. While you’re telling them about the benefits of your membership content in general, don’t forget about the benefits of the membership site itself. For example:

    • Low cost. A monthly fee (such as $10 or $20 or even $50 per month) sounds small compared to a one-time fee of say $297. You can often get more members by focusing on this small recurring fee. You may even break it down further by reminding your prospects of the daily cost (e.g., “just $1 a day – less than a typical person wastes of snacks”)
    • Easy Steps. If you have a training site and you’re tackling a big topic, then let your visitors know that they won’t get overwhelmed because you’re an expert at making complicated things simple and you’re offering a step-by-step course in easy to follow weekly installments.

4. Let People Get A Sneak Preview Inside the Site

Whether you offer free trials or not, you can get more members simply by letting prospects “peek” inside the site. There are loads of ways to do this, including:

    • Providing partial content, such as the first paragraph of an article with a link or a description of the full report. When people click on the link, they’re encouraged to become a member.
    • Screenshots of the inside of the site, which shows the materials available, the forum, or whatever you are offering.Video of the inside of the members-only area of the site. Just use screen recording software like Camtasia Studio and record yourself “touring” the site. Very compelling.

So in summary to fill your paid membership site with grateful members just create great content, craft a good offer, write a good sales page – and then apply these four tips!
